Magic Link Registration

Magic link is an option for users to register passwordless authentication. It is a one-time accessible link sent by an administrator on your designated email ID to register allowing you to continue with the authentication process.

There are three scenarios in which a user can use a magic link: 

  1. A new user

  2. An existing user

  3. A fallback use case

    Important:

    A user must be a part of the Passwordless Authentication policy to receive the Magic link and register for passwordless authentication.

New user registration using Magic link

  1. Click the Magic link received on the email address.

  2. It will redirect to the registration page for passwordless authentication.

  3.  You can choose to scan the QR code using the CiVerifID app or WebAuthn to register the device.

    • Scan the QR code: Scan the QR code through the CiVerifID app, it will show the message Registration is successful. Close the window and it will redirect you to the Cross Identity login page. Enter the username and you need to authenticate the login through the app on your mobile.

    • WebAuthn: Enter the Device name and description to register the machine. Click Register.

Existing user registration using the Magic link

  1. Click the hyperlink received in the email to log in for passwordless.

  2. It will direct you to the login page. Enter the username.

  3. Click Sign In.

  4. It will ask you to authenticate on your mobile device.

  5. Open the CiVerifID app and verify your login.

Fallback Mechanism

In case a user does not receive an email to access the magic link, the user should get an option to log in with the Email OTP/ SMS OTP.

  1. Enter the username on the Sign-in page. Click Sign In.

  2.  It will take you to the MFA screen.

  3.  Choose one of the options and proceed further to authenticate.

  4.  Once you enter the response, you will be directed to the Launchpad.
