Article summary

The following illustrates the Reverse Password Sync Agent (RPSA) architecture diagram:

Information:

The RPSA component must be installed on the Windows server where Active Directory is installed.

Information:
The user changes the account password by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete and clicking Change Password. The password change on the resource can also be initiated.

Step 1: The password change request is sent directly to the Active Directory Server.

Step 2: Whenever an end user changes the password from the Windows credential provider or resets the password using the Cross Identity Credential Provider (CPGina), the RPSA component that is installed on Domain Controller captures the password change event that occurred in the Active Directory. After capturing the password change event, the Domain controller sends the changed password to the Cross Identity to sync with the connected application.
