Passwordless authentication is a method that enables users to access their systems without using passwords. Here, the user authenticates using a device they possess or a biometric. For instance, you have a fingerprint scanner connected to the system. You can access the system by using your unique fingerprints to log in.

To use the feature, you should register for passwordless authentication.

Users must enrol their device to authenticate securely using Windows’s Hello, Mac OS Touch ID or any other FIDO2-compliant biometric device or security keys.

Register a device

  1. Click the Registration Menu on the end-user portal.

  2. The user will screen for secondary-level security purposes. 

  3.  Click Device Registration. 

  4.  Click Register.

  5. Below screen appears with two options to register.

  6. Device Registration: There are two methods available to manage Device Registration:

    1. Register your laptop by following the steps below to enable passwordless authentication:

      a. Enter the Device Name and description.

      b. Click Register.

      Upon completing the registration, you can utilize your Mac Touch ID to scan your fingerprint within the Cross Identity solution.

    2. You can alternatively utilize the CIVerifID Mobile App to register for passwordless authentication.

  7.  Click Scan the QR code to authenticate via the CiVerifId app on your mobile. 

    • Scan the QR Code using the CIVerifID Mobile App.

       

    • You will receive a push notification on your mobile device to allow authentication.

    • Post verification, you will receive a successful completion message on your mobile. 

De-Register a device

A user can de-register the device(laptop/mobile) to maintain control over the account's security.
